My lady sister picked me up on many issues with shadows. I changed some of them and kept some of them. When I draw the shadows myself, I partly refer to the shadow effects in the original image. If there is no shadow at all in the original image, you can usually pretend to be a light source and stuff some dark stuff into it to see the effect. I imitate my predecessors in these shading techniques. I seem to be able to use them so skillfully that ordinary people can’t do them.
