Incomplete tutorial on color block painting 6 Color and light and shadow in color block painting by lstar@smth
Many changes and effects in color block painting require the coordination of colors. We have mentioned it before and will return to it in this section.
Discuss in depth
Since there are only 16 colors available in bbs and the background color can only use 8 low-bright colors,
Color Therefore, the choice of colors in a picture is particularly important. Generally speaking, use as little high color as possible in color block pictures.
Bright colors. When you encounter areas that require light and shadow changes, you can choose light colors to simulate them. Only add some in a few places.
Highlight color blocks for embellishment
Let's take an example. First, we use the method we learned earlier to draw an ellipse. I hope you still remember it.
light
① ② ③ ④
If we want to represent an ellipsoid, the light comes from the upper left corner. ① Obviously the place close to the light
Illuminated by light, we can use bright yellow to express it ② In order to highlight the point closest to the light source
We use highlight white to express ③ while the light areas are relatively darker. We chose to contrast with yellow.
A very strong red is used as the color of the shadow. ④ Finally, add some shadows to complete the picture as shown below.
Through the above example, the lighting changes are generally explained. There is another issue worth noting:
There are some colors that are not significantly different when matched together, such as the following combinations:
Therefore, combinations like the above should be avoided under normal circumstances. You can choose some with widely different colors.
As the shadow color, for example, the yellow subject in our example chooses red as the shadow. Similarly, there is a white subject.
Select yellow as the shadow color for the body, etc.
There is another topic that is often mentioned in the color block diagram, which is transparent color. Just pay attention to the computer here.
The colors above are red, green and blue RGB. Just superimpose the three primary lights. The picture below was made using photoshop.
The effect of the background colors in the bbs superimposing each other
picture
Notice that many of the superimposed colors do not exist in bbs. Our commonly used color superpositions
There are just a few combinations in the picture below. There are no suitable color combinations for other colors, so it’s better to use them sparingly.
Even if it is used, the effect is not very good

This assignment is to experience the color selection and changes mentioned above, combined with the real things you usually see.
Think about the actual effect and ASCIIArt pictures
