ascii is an art, not a technology
This is a rule that I always adhere to when painting calligraphy and painting.
Since it is not a technology, naturally there are no teaching materials.
But I still have some experiences. Let’s share them for everyone to approve.
About drafts
If you are not referring to someone else's original manuscript but are creating your own work, you must make a rough draft, especially if the painting is relatively large.
When making a work, the draft I am talking about here refers to drawing on the paper at hand, rather than using software tools on the computer.
The converted bitmap or outline draft just allows you to have a general outline in your mind before completing your work.
Impression, that's all. In short, according to my personal habits, I don't use any tools or software before drawing formal drawings.
About contour lines
Before formal painting, many people like to use thin lines to create an outline. I don’t use it because I personally feel like this.
The method is very restrictive in the future. I regard character drawing as sketching rather than sketching, so it does not use light draft lines.
Before you start writing, you should know how many rows and columns each part of the painting should occupy. There is no need to draw it out.
Come on, if you really draw the outline first, you will be easily affected by it when you select the detailed characters. Of course
If you must draw an outline, you can also draw a rectangle. It is enough to limit the size of the entire painting.
About starting a pen
When painting a larger work, where to start is a very critical issue. According to general rules,
You should start from the most important part of the whole painting. Take a figure and landscape painting as an example. Draw the figures first and then the landscape.
Draw the head first and then the body. Draw the eyes first and then the other facial features. In this order, it is best to completely complete the first and last.
Then slowly expand outwards
About the choice of symbols
Flubber's works are very particular about seamless connections, but I like to do the opposite.
For example, I will try to avoid such situations, especially in the main part of the picture.
The lines should be connected imaginarily rather than connected in real terms. Also, I try to choose characters with obvious stroke effects.
Furu
But these are all personal style issues. There is no question of which one is better or worse among various styles. Like synyan’s
I'm afraid those planes, ships, and cannons wouldn't necessarily look weird if I were to paint them.
About material selection
The best way to learn painting is to copy, and this is especially true for calligraphy and painting. You need to find a more complicated painting at the beginning.
Copying, ink painting, watercolor, and line drawing can all be done. The advantage of being a little more complicated is that if you really can’t draw them all, you can at least do it.
Can complete more important parts
