I actually drew this 2 weeks ago, but the code is so long that it’s ridiculously long.
So I was forced to compile a code reducer. I just got it working today, but it’s not completely compiled yet.
Originally I drew a water drop, but then I wanted to give the water drop a background, and I remembered it some time ago.
I said I wanted to draw a Coke can, and it just so happened that I could use the metallic texture, haha.
Originally there was no need to make the Coke can so big, but it had to be so in order to match the proportion of the water drops.
Even so, the water droplets still look very big. In fact, such big water droplets cannot be hung at all :P
The word cola on Coke was converted using bmp2ascii, which saved me a lot of effort in modifying it.
Part of it is smooth strokes, and more importantly, aligning the color blocks because you need to draw two shadows on the words.
The staggered parts of the row of color blocks must be readjusted.
After copying the water beads onto the jars, I started to want them to have some changes.
Because the Coke can itself is curved, the two on the right are facing the right, and the water drop on the upper left is slightly facing the left.
This may be the only information to express the arc. If you draw an arc at the mouth of the can or the turning point of the can body,
There will inevitably be jaggies. According to the failed lesson of the first trumpet, when painting metallic textures, we must resolutely avoid jaggies.
The one on the upper left looks unnatural. I originally wanted to draw it because of surface tension.
The way the water beads and the mouth of the jar stick together, I still feel that it doesn’t look the same even if I change it again and again.
The one in the center is the one that was originally drawn and has not been changed.
The water droplets on the lower left are relatively large. They droop downwards due to gravity and are streamlined. The top is thinner so there is no shadow.
The water drop on the upper right is on the edge. What you see through it is the black background behind it, so black is used a lot.
The two bright colors are the refraction of the edge of the jar. Starlight is added to it, so it looks very eye-catching.
Only this water drop has space to make stars, and you can’t add others if you want to.
The water droplets on the lower right and the gray on the right are the transmission of reflected light from behind. It still doesn’t quite look like it. I’ll change it later.
If there are only a few large water droplets, it will look empty and fake.
The small water droplets are simplified based on the principle of large water droplets. The effect is okay.
The main flaw of small water beads is that there is no change in direction according to the arc.
But there is no way to draw it otherwise.
I also wanted to draw some water drops between the two sizes, but I didn’t try successfully, so that’s all I could do.
I have some experience about water beads. Let me summarize it in this article.
Mentioned in the masterpiece of dntx Winter Bird Listening to Snow:
: flubber, you will scare everyone if you draw super masterpieces all day long.
: Fortunately, I have already seen your "trumpet" and I am mentally prepared this time:
: There are many restrictions on making round things like Shuizhu. It’s hard for you to perform so well. It’s really wonderful.
: The small water beads are very good, the one on the far right of the big water beads is very good, and the one on the upper left is less expressive.
: The arc connection between the mouth of the can and the body of the can is beautifully expressed through light and shadow patterns. I appreciate this very much.
: In addition, the letters are well written and placed on the left side of the screen, which balances the screen very well.
: There is also a reflective layer on these letters to blend in with the whole
: However, the image is too big and the curvature of the Coke can itself cannot be expressed well, which is a small pity.
