═╗ ╔═╗ ╔═╗ ═ ╔═╗ ╔═╗ ╔═╗ ╔═╗ ╔═╗ ╔═╗
║ ║ ║ ║ ║ ║ ║ ║ ║ ║ ║ ║ ║ ║ ║ ║ ║ ║ ║ ║
═║ ╔═╝ ═╣ ╚═╣ ╚═╗ ╠═╗ ═║ ╠═╣ ╚═╣ ║═║
║ ║ ║ ║ ║ ║ ║ ║ ║ ║ ║ ║ ║ ║ ║ ║ ║ ║ ║ ║
═ ╚═╝ ╚═╝ ═ ╚═╝ ╚═╝ ═ ╚═╝ ╚═╝ ╚═╝
1234567890
╲╱ ╲╱ 好像在画Cassiopeia(仙后座)的连线。 ^^"
╭┬─╮ ╮

╭╮╭╮ ┼ ┼ ├╮╭╮ │ │
╰╮││ │ │ ││╭┤ │ │
╰╯╰╯ ★ ╰ ╰╯╰★ ╰ ╰ softball
╔╗ ╦ ╔╗╔╗ ╦╗╔╗ ╔╗
║ ║ ║ ╠╣ ║║╠╣ ╠
╚╝ ╩ ╚╝╝╚ ╩╝╝╚ ╚╝ CICADAE
╔══
╠═ ╭─╮╭─╮ ┼ ˙ ╮╭ ╭─╮ │
║ ├─╯╰─╮ │ │ ││ ╭─┤ │
╩ ╰─╯╰─╯ ╰╯╰ ╰┘ ╰─┴ ╰ Festival

TAIWAN

◢
◢◤ ◥█◤ ◥◣ █◤
◥◣ █ ◢█ █
◢◤ ◥◣ ◥█◣ █ star

_ ____ ____ ___ ___ _ _
/ \ / ___| / ___|_ _|_ _| / \ _ __| |_
/ _ \ \___ \| | | | | | / _ \ | '__| __|

| | / _ \| | |/ _ \/ __| __| |/ _ \| '_ \
| |__| (_) | | | __/ (__| |_| | (_) | | | |
\____\___/|_|_|\___|\___|\__|_|\___/|_| |_| ASCII Art Collection

Introduction to Singing Cicada ASCII Art Volume 2 Learning Calligraphy and Handwriting
2004.07.17
Outline: Ⅰ Plumber Ⅱ Geometric arrangement Ⅲ Creative font Origin from: Tolo Note
Ⅰ Plumber
Before learning to use special symbols to write, let’s first review a puzzle game we encountered before.
Question: Please try to use eight matchsticks to arrange three squares
When we encounter this kind of problem
If you have matches or toothpicks lying around, you can usually just take them out and arrange them.
It’s easier to do hands-on experiments than to simulate them in your mind
After trying it for a while, you'll find the answer
Arabic numerals
So while we're thinking about the answer, let's start discussing the topic.
Do you remember how the early Yangchun calculator screen displayed Arabic numerals?
It's very similar to matchstick typesetting, right? It only uses seven matchsticks at most. It's a very simple way of writing.
1234567890
We only used two parts: horizontal and vertical.
Use copy & paste to write the simplest Arabic numerals
Now let's add some more material and try to embellish these numbers.
Use them to fill up the unconnected parts in the middle
This kind of action is very similar to connecting many water pipes in different directions.
1234567890
It seems like it’s not complete enough. Okay, let’s come up with more advanced materials :p
1234567890
Completed. In this way, a set of simple Arabic numeral fonts is completed ^^
English alphabet
After solving the simplest Arabic numerals, you can start to challenge the slightly more difficult English letters.
Later, the author will gradually demonstrate the simplest writing method
Before writing English letters, we first prepare special arc materials
Then for the sake of appearance, the previous water pipes were replaced with thin ones.
Well let's get started
In the process, readers should find that some words are easy to write, easy and realistic.
On the contrary, some words will cause difficulties and become awkward to write.
How to use limited materials to come up with the most similar appearance is the challenge of writing ASCII characters.
Do you know why the author needs to grab more materials for backup?
Without the help of arcs, words such as BCDGHJ cannot be written realistically.
But when I wrote that M was in trouble again, I had to find reinforcements again.
What V and W are these? They look really weird.
Do you know the crux of the problem?
Yes, it is not difficult to write a word, but it is difficult to write a set of fonts.
Every word has its own innate characteristics. Put many words with different characteristics together.
I have to accommodate you and you also have to worry about me. We restrain each other and cannot display our personal strengths.
This is more like a W, but its width can already fit four O's.
It seems like I am drawing a connection between Cassiopeia and Cassiopeia ^^"
If you don’t force yourself to use full-width special symbols
The slash and backslash of the half-shaped symbol can make it more natural
Words like KMR have to grow so fat. It’s impossible to shrink them down like COS.
As for QV, if their breakthroughs in the vertical direction are not restricted, they will actually look better.
I haven’t written XYZ yet. I need to get one more thing before writing X.
In this way, a set of uppercase English fonts is completed
can store them in appropriate places
Use it word by word when needed in the future.
This set of uppercase English fonts is not sophisticated because I tried my best to simplify their strokes. The lines are very simple.
Next, I am not going to demonstrate lowercase a to z. Instead, I will show some practical examples for your reference.
These letters are less regular than the previous ones. When designing, priority is given to creativity and special style.
Badminton
softball
CICADAE
Festival
Just a reminder, there are no thick arcs. Please pay attention to this when designing.
Regarding the design of English words, my personal suggestion is
Before designing, write down all the English letters that need to be written on paper.
Think about what they have in common and find the greatest common divisor.
Then choose the design style and finally start writing.
Finally, I will sort out all the water pipes for your reference.
Chinese characters
What's so difficult about Chinese characters? Just write them one stroke at a time.
But if I write some words one stroke at a time, I think I will cry. "
Asset Management Week
Is there any way to write Chinese characters such as Yu Ji Ti in such a size?
I think there is no solution if you write stroke by stroke unless you write to the size of the entire screen.
There are three solutions to this problem
The first type is not to write characters with too many strokes, which are unsolvable. Don’t try to write ASCII Chinese characters with too many strokes.
I would rather write the corresponding English design website promotion when entering the board screen.
The second type is to rewrite simplified Chinese characters, such as 体
The third type is to streamline strokes and omit some strokes without affecting the overall sense.
The shape left after omitting it can still allow readers to identify which Chinese character it is.
It’s a pity that the author has no experience in simplifying the strokes, and there are no general rules to follow.
I can only suggest that you pay more attention to the artistic fonts designed by some experts.
See how they cleverly transform Chinese characters to achieve the desired effect
Answer: Match stick question. If the reader hasn’t figured it out yet, here is the answer.
First, use four matchsticks to form a square
Then just overlap the two squares as shown on the left.
Sometimes the moment when I write a difficult word
It’s like finding an answer. It’s very fulfilling ^ <
Ⅱ Geometric arrangement
Different from the way of connecting water pipes, this is another design style
It's a little more difficult because it doesn't feel like handwriting, but treats the words as pictures.
Stacked blocks
Use regular solid blocks
Write the numbers in stacked form
Remember to use half-shaped spaces wisely
Make the connecting parts of the strokes smoother
The same principle is also very useful when writing English words.
Another advantage of stacking blocks is that
After you copy a material
Then it's very convenient to stick the same material all the time.
You can also easily change it to italics!
This is something a plumber can't do
What are the disadvantages of stacking blocks?
Probably it’s just that it’s not easy to write Chinese
In fact, there is no limit to stacking the same type of building blocks.
As long as it looks comfortable, it doesn't matter if you give it a little more variety. Here's an interesting way to write it.
Nice
Use rectangle
This set goes from bottom to top
A series of rectangles extending from left to right
It can also be used to write ASCII characters.
As for some innate limitations 123
For example, making a rectangle with the opposite direction
You have to wait until you learn the color codes
Only then can we try to break through this limitation
The author has written some examples on the right
TAIWAN
Right triangle use
These four right triangles also have room for use when making ASCII characters.
Combination Examples Isosceles Triangle and Parallelogram
Slash effect 45 degree slash
The cross effect is used in English X x or the Chinese cross part
Well, it's getting weirder and weirder now that triangles are involved.
You can make more interesting fonts. Here is a simple arrangement.
star
When one of the letters is not very clear, you can rely on the help of the context.
Allow readers to quickly infer unclear words:
Vega
Ⅲ Creative fonts
square character
A very special font. This font is mainly for cuteness ^^"
But it’s very difficult to design because you have to worry about the integrity of their outer frames.
Then perform the cutting action inside the square
MEOW ^.^
Outline characters
Use special symbols to surround the text. The real strokes are inside the text.
The following is a good example source taken from http: www.chris.com ascii

floating words
First use the method of stacking wood to stack the main body, and then use the method of connecting water pipes to draw its shadow.
It feels like words floating out. The body should not have a half-width connection, like this X
TACO
Three-dimensional characters
In the same way, please use first to stack the building block characters. Also, there should be no half-width connection.
Then use to perform three-dimensional carving
This D was modified with the help of color codes
Added two bottom lines
